News & Info » Dec-2011 Mercedes Chooses Dunlop for 2012 C63 Black |
|
Mercedes-Benz has once again swept automobile enthusiasts off their feet, with the amazing C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. With its powerful engine and superior technology, this is a sports car that wouldn’t be out of place in any race car competition. The 2012 C63 AMG Coupe Black Series starts with a 6.3-litre V-8 good for 510 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to propel the coupe from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.2 seconds. Up front, the package includes front winglets and a larger front splitter that extends 1.5 inches beyond the splitter in the AMG Carbon Fiber Package. Out back, there’s a carbon fiber rear wing that’s adjustable for more or less downforce, depending upon the racetrack and your driving ability. To tame this awesome car, Mercedes turned to DUNLOP to deliver street legal tyres with race-tyre performance. And deliver they did! Dunlop engineers have used their significant race track experience and merged it with their renown premium tyre design capability to taylor-make a unique solution. Mighty 255/35 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 19 (rear) DUNLOP Sport Maxx Race tyres grace the C63, mounted on 9 x 19 and 9.5 x 19 AMG alloys. The wheel/tire combination fills out the guards to stunning effect and has a significant impact on the dynamic appearance of this new AMG sports car. Combined, this package has recorded a lap time around the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife Circuit at 7min 46sec, only marginally slower that the outright record holder Nissan GT-R at 7min 38sec (also set on DUNLOP rubber).
