News & Info » Aug-2011 Dunlop's New Sports Sedan Tyre Rolls On
Tony Ricciardello's Alfa Sports Sedan
Tony Ricciardello was totally dominant in the B&M Rocciardello Motors / Red Rooster Alfa GTV / Chev at Morgan Park Aug 14th. Testing the new Dunlop 18" Sports Sedan slicks he secured Pole Position and won easily all 3 races.
In all 4 track outings he was under the previous track record set last year by Darren Hossack culminating in a 1:12.6124 lap in race 2. He was a run away winner in all events despite the best efforts from leading locals Shane Bradford in his Chev Camaro Trans-am and Chris Donnelly in his Ford Falcon.
In reporting on the tyres' performance, Tony was particularly complimentary of the tyres' grip and stability.
On 240 points Ricciardello has an unbeatable 98 point lead going into the he final round at Phillip Island in November followed by Bradford on 142 and Camm on 115. Whilst Ricciardello could be excused for taking it easy in the final he has his sights set on a new Phillip Island Sports Sedan record to back up his new records at Eastern creek and Morgan Park. For sure Hossack will have plans of his own to secure the Phillip Island record as anything but a win in the John Gourlay owned Auto Union Deutche Independant Audi/Chev is generally not acceptable to him.
The Ricciardello record pace in Q1 and all 3 races proved the new Dunlop 18 inch tyre is not only fast but has great consistancy over the 3 X 12 lap heats.
