Dunlop Motorsport has been awarded the Australian Formula Vee Tyre Contract for 2010-2014.

The Dunlop CR82 tyre was selected following exhaustive testing in both wet and dry conditions at Sydney's Oran Park Circuit.

Six cars were used to unsure that both new and used tyres of each brand could be adequately evaluated.

The contract period is for 5 years begining in January 2010, terminating at the end of 2014.

This tyre was developed specifically for Formula Vee by Dunlop Motorsport engineers at Birmingham England. It encorporates an all-weather tread on a bias ply casing, being particularly suited to this unique application. Results of the test at Oran park show that not only were the Dunlop tyres faster in both wet and dry conditions, but the compound consistency allowed for maximum performance even in heavily worn condition.

Formula vee is the most affordable open wheel racing car category in Australia. It represents the ultimate in simple but effective technology in an affordable race car package. Incorporating a standard 1200cc or 1600cc air cooled VW engine with a standard 4 speed Volkswagen gearbox, and VW components in front and rear suspension.

A feature of Formula Vee racing is the drivers hitting 200 kph along the straights and then keeping the cars 'on the edge' for the whole race in tight formations. The strong VW engine can take revs of up to 7000 RPM.
