Mark Fawcett and Carrie Morris have extended their lead in the Victorian Rally Championship with a strong win in the George Derrick Memorial Rally held around Avoca July 19th. They brought their Subaru home nearly 2 minutes in the lead in a mixture of dry, wet and very slippery conditions.
In second place were Warren Lee and David Lethlean in their Mitsubishi Lancer, a further 40 seconds ahead of David Nutter and Catherine Taylor in their Subaru.
Both leading cars used the dominant DUNLOP DZ86R rally tyres. In fact DUNLOP tyres were used by 5 of the top 10 finishers; a testament to their performance and popularity this year.
In the VCRS (club rally) section of the Rally, the winners were Andrew Bell and Ari Paterson in their Datsun Bluebird, followed by Simon and Ian Ellis in their Subaru Legacy. Both these cars also used the popular DUNLOP rubber.
