Modern Winners Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb

Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb have won Targa Tasmania for Modern Cars for 2008.

Pushing his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 from day 1, Steve Moved into second place behind Jim Richards on day one and went into the lead at the begining of day 2, never to be headed.

In third place, navigated by Glenn Macneall, was Dean Herridge in his Subaru WRX STi.

Both Steve and Dean used the highly successful Dunlop DZ03G tyres.

Jim Richards, partnered by longtime navigator Barry Oliver, brought his new Porsche 911 GT2 in second place, fighting off determined challenges by a host of 4 wheel drive machines in the treacherous conditions.

As in previous years, Dunlop tyres were used by the majority of the field, filling 6 of the top 10 outright positions. In fact Dunlop tyres took 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Showroom 4WD and 1st in Showroom 2WD. In addition Dunlop tyres were used by Steve Bradford to win the Rookie class.

In the classic event Dunlop tyres were used by 1st & 2nd in late Classic and 1st & 2nd in early Classic.

Dunlop tyres were used by 70% of the top 20 finishers and in the Modern category, 56% of all cars (Bridgestone 14%, Kumho 9%, Toyo 8%, Yokohama 6% and Pirelli 3%).

In the Classic Competition, Dunlop tyres were used by 31%, Bridgestone 21%, Yokohama 17%, Toyo 11% and Kumho 9%.
