Tarmac rally rookie Allan Simonsen has now won his secont tarmac rally in succession, with a little help from Dunlop tyres. As in his previous victory at lake Mountain, Allan used the new DUNLOP DZ03G tyre to devastating effect.
Allan Simonsen and ben Searcy finished a mere 15 seconds ahead of LWR team-mates Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson in their Subaru WRX.
Third home in the event that they last won in 2005 were tasmanians Jason and John White in their Lamborghini Gallardo.
In forth place were rising tarmac stars Eli Evans and Chris Murphy in their Subaru WRX, also on the ubiquitous DUNLOP rubber.
The DUNLOP tyres were so popular for this event that 44% of all Modern cars chose to use them (Bridgestone 18%, Yokohama 12%, Kumho 10% Pirelli 8%).
In the heritage section the Hoinville brothers triumphed in their Ford Escort RS1600. The Hoinvilles also used the new DUNLOP DZ03G effectively, overtaking the De Tomaso Panterra of Keith and Marry-Anne Callinan in the final day of the event. Third in their Ford Capri were previous winners David McDonough and Lyndon Wilson, also on DUNLOP rubber.
