Winners Simonsen and Searcy, with place getters

Tarmac rally rookie Allan Simonsen has taken the honours in the inaugural Lake Mountain (Sprint) Tango.

Simonsen and co-driver Ben Searcy topped the time boards with a total of 51m:55.50s for the 11 runs (nine up, two down) of the Lake Mountain access road, setting record times for fastest runs in both directions on their way to victory. They contested the event in a Lancer Evo 9.

In second place, in a Subaru WRX, were gravel rally specialists Eli Evans and Chris Murphy.

Both first and second place cars were fitted with the new DUNLOP DZ03G tyres

Third place went to the Tasmanian nephew/uncle duo of Jason and John White in their Lamborghini Gallardo.

Fourth outright were Asia-Pacific (gravel) rally champions Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson (Subaru), while fifth place went to husband and wife duo Drew and Georgie Jorgensen in their Nissan Skyline GTR. Both forth and fifth places were also fitted with the ubiquitous DUNLOP tyres.

The DUNLOP tyres were so popular, that 60% of all cars chose to use them, swelling to 73% by the end of the event.
