Rex Broadbent has again taken victory in the 2006 Classic Adelaide today after dominating the rally from the start of prologue on Wednesday. Rex is pictured with navigator Mike Goodhear, enjoying the spoils of victory. This gives him a 100 percent success rate making it five wins from five starts in the classic rally.
Rex finished 19 seconds ahead of Nick Streckeisen in his 1989 944 Turbo Cup with Jim Richards a close third just three seconds behind.
This year Rex took the opportunity of using the new DZ03G tyre on the rear of his 1974 Porsche 911 RS. "The new tyres were phenominal on the rear" said Rex, adding "they gave the car perfect balance with the DZ02G pattern on the front. I am pleased that Dunlop have not rested on their laurels, and are clearly committed to developing their winning tyres further. The weather conditions were very trying this year and the tyres did not miss a beat" he added.
Dunlop tyres took 3 of the top 4 placings this year, reinforcing its position as the dominant tyre brand, in not only this event, but all major tarmac rallies. 42% of all cars in the outright category chose DUNLOP tyres, 30% Yokohama, 10% Bridgestone, 10% Toyo, 3% Kumho.
