Dunlop's domination of tarmac rallying continues with this years Targa West. Ross Dunkerton's Mitsubishi Lancer, navigated by Alan Stean finished 16 seconds ahead of the Porsche 911 of Paul Blackie and Mike Stoneman. Both teams used the now famous Dunlop DZ02G.
A total of 34% of competitors used Dunlop tyres (17% Bridgestone, 17% Yokohama, 13% Pirelli, 10% Toyo, 6% Michelin)
