Dunlop tyres continue to dominate tarmac rallies with a strong win in the 2005 Grand Prix Rally.

Run over five days across regional Victoria, the 2005 Grand Prix Rally mixed road navigation with closed road and track speed tests, culminating in a parade lap of the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit.

In addition to winning both Modern and Classic classes outright, Dunlop tyres were fitted to four of the leading 5 cars.

Congratulations go to first place-getters Geoff Beaumont and Ross Runnalls in their 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII. Jeff and Ross led from day one and won with a dominant performance and strong points tally.

"The tyres were perfect for the event. We felt comfortable throughout the event and had a good run at the end," said Jeff Beaumont.

South Australia's Peter Gazzard and co-driver Bruce Foote held onto second place outright in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 ahead of the Porsche 911 GT2 of Greg and Harry Keene.

"I was really happy with the car, and I've also really enjoyed the driving components of the Rally," said Gazzard. "I made a few mistakes along the way but Jeff was still far enough in front that it wouldn't have mattered."

Chris Stillwell and Eric Noordzy were fourth aboard their BMW M3.

The 'Classic' category for older cars was won by Victorians Peter Riseborough and Tim Kennon in a 1970 MGB, also on Dunlop tyres.
