The mighty 240Z is nearly 50 years older than many cars in the field, but Jon Siddins has shown exceptional skill behind the wheel to power across the six-day course to comfortably win the Classic GT title by nine minutes and 25 seconds. In second place was Craig Haysman, along with his co-driver Julie Boorman, in his much-campaigned 1979 Triumph TR7 V8. Filling out the podium placings were Michael and Daniel in a 1975 Holden Torana, who were a further three minutes 42 seconds further back. The Siddins combination took control of Classic GT on the opening day and then were never headed. Each day, as the course tackled the testing Tasmanian roads, the pair extended their lead. It was a superb demonstration of a well-prepared car and a driver who knew how to get the most out of it. It was a brilliant drive that resulted in a back-to-back Classic wins for the Queenslanders. “We can’t believe how well we’ve done overall – the car’s had a few issues, but we’ve still had a great event,” Siddins said. “They were all minor things, but it’s about knowing what the car can handle and where its weak points are. “We never worry about what the other crews are doing – our aim is just to get through the stages as well as we can. “The only difference this year has been that it was Gina’s second event and she was just brilliant calling the corners compared to her first time last year. “Our teamwork was just so good, which enabled us to win by the margin we did.”

Of course Jon's car uses the dominant Dunlop 03G rubber, as do most winners!
